WOW! JUST WOW! This was a great place to stay on the UWS. Very well-located for museum hopping, park exploring, and deli-hopping. Close to the subway, with very nice, friendly staff, warm, welcoming lobby. Our experience limits my ability to comment on the regular rooms, as we were upgraded to "the best room in the house!" I don't know why the front desk captain chose us for this very unexpected gift, but thank you, thank you, thank you from these mid-seventy year olds, who had recently celebrated 50 years of marriage! A few days earlier, we had visited the Whitney's Hopper exhibit, and the view from the 9th floor suite's windows looked out on a scene that could almost have come from one of the paintings. The roofs of low--rise brownstones gave way to the Hudson River, and the NJ skyline. A large, homey and clearly designed living area gave way to the king bed, more windows (all with room-darkening shades) a fuzzy shag rug and dressing table. And next to the bed: a box of a half-dozen pretty and delicious macarons from the French patisserie next door. A massive bathroom with a soaking tub, and walk-in shower completed the suite. Frette linens in the bathroom and on the bed (as well as robes and slippers) made use feel like royalty. Capping it off was the Hopper print that hung on the wall of the sitting area! Bliss! Thank you Hotel Belleclaire!

The hotel is in a really beautiful building. It felt fancy and very New York without being stuffy or formal. I had a great room, very spacious and bright, huge comfortable bed, lots of useful stuff - iron and ironing board, quality hairdryer, safe, plenty of hangers, selection of toiletries. Good water pressure and temperature in the shower. The breakfast pastries were delicious and a generous size. There was only a queue for breakfast on my last day when it seemed a huge party of French people had all arrived together, so I guess how busy it is depends on how full the hotel is. The location was ideal. The neighbourhood felt very quiet and safe even after dark, but it wasn't dead - there were plenty of places to eat and drink nearby, as well as a cinema, theatre and comedy club. It's a few minutes walk to Central Park and the Natural History Museum. Even though you're relatively far out of town, 72nd Street station is the first stop on the Harlem express trains so you can be down to Times Square in 5 minutes. It's also perfectly walkable, about 30mins down Broadway, or 45 through Central Park. You should definitely take advantage of the free Streetwise walking tour, it was fun and informative. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay at the Belleclaire and would definitely go back.

Beautiful hotel with lots of character. We were in a King sized room and had plenty of space. The shower was lovely (and about the same size of the lift!). Really comfy bed and plenty of storage space. We had a north/west facing windows and it was a typical New York street view below (7th floor). We were three blocks from Central Park, two blocks from the subway. Plenty of lovely restaurants nearby - we went to Playa Betty’s and it was lovely. Breakfast from the bakery was delicious every day! There was sometimes a queue but we were always up at the crack of dawn anyway thanks to jet lag! $10 each was more than enough.

We were pleasantly surprised by the size of our room and the bed was large and comfortable. the hotel is in a good location away from the chaos of downtown which we liked. it’s just a short stroll to a subway station (1,2,3) and good access to everything. you are just a short walk to Central Park. the staff are nice and friendly and the bakery is great to get your morning coffee and croissant. unfortunately we didn’t get to participate in their complimentary wine hour or guided walks but these are attractive additions to the stay. we would definitely stay here if we return to NY in the future.

We booked a double bed room that was described as larger than the rest. It meaned that the bathroom was adapted for people with limitations on their mobility. Apart from this detail, room was clean and big enough for my family. Location is very good. Oscar, from the concierge, was AWESOME. Helped us to book a taxi to get to the location of our rental car and was always at hand when required. Breakfast is provided by a french cafe, and the variety of options is huge and all was awesome. tip: try the croissants!!
